Since its release in 1945, this pencil has been widely loved as the standard for office and school pencils. It comes in six hardness levels, from 2H to 2B.

The "8900" was released in 1945 as a premium pencil for photo retouching. It has now become the standard pencil and is loved by many people.

The design of the yellow dozen box and olive green pencil body has remained almost unchanged since 1948. The logo mark from that time, a realistic drawing of a dragonfly, bears more than 60 years of history.
